Hail damage roof repair in Colorado Springs
The Front Range gets more damaging hail than almost anywhere in the country. Here is how we find it, document it and fix it.

Hail damage on asphalt shingles is easy to miss from the ground. The shingle does not usually break; it bruises. The impact knocks granules loose and cracks the mat underneath, and the spot starts to weather and leak a year or two later. That is why a hail inspection here means getting on the roof.
How we inspect after a hailstorm
- We check soft metals first: roof vents, gutters, downspouts and window screens show dents that tell us the size and direction of the hail.
- On each slope we mark a ten-by-ten-foot test square and circle every hit inside it in chalk.
- We look at the attic for daylight, wet decking or fresh stains.
- You get a written report with photos of each slope, the hit counts and the soft-metal damage.

The June 2023 storm and what it taught us
In June 2023 an overnight hailstorm near Colorado Springs was described as the worst in more than twenty years and produced around twelve thousand insurance claims. Roofs that had been patched rather than replaced after earlier storms took it hardest. If your roof has already had one hail claim, ask us to look at whether an impact-rated replacement is the better value this time.
| Sign | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Dents in metal vents and gutters | Hail large enough to bruise shingles; get the roof checked |
| Granules piling at downspouts | Impacts knocked them off; the shingle will age faster |
| Dark round spots on the shingles | Bruises; soft to the touch when fresh |
| Cracked or split tabs | Larger hail or older, brittle shingles |
Insurance comes up on almost every hail job. Our hail claim guide walks through the steps; the short version is that we document, your carrier decides, and your deductible is yours to pay.
Questions about hail damage repair
How soon after a hailstorm should I get an inspection?
Within a few weeks is sensible. Every policy sets a deadline for reporting damage, so check yours; the sooner the photos are taken, the easier the claim.
Do you meet the insurance adjuster?
Yes, if you would like us there. We point out what we documented; the adjuster makes the coverage call.
What are Class 4 shingles?
Shingles that pass the UL 2218 impact test at its highest level. They resist hail better than standard laminates, and we quote both so you can compare.
