Metal roofing in Colorado Springs
Standing-seam steel for homes on the plains, in the foothills and up in Woodland Park, with snow guards where they matter.

Metal roofs make sense here for a few reasons. Snow slides off rather than sitting for weeks. A good steel panel shrugs off most hail; it may dent cosmetically in a severe storm but keeps the water out. And steel does not burn, which owners on the wooded lots of Black Forest and the foothills tend to appreciate.
What we install
- Standing-seam steel with concealed clips, so no screws go through the panel face
- Snow guards above doors, walkways and decks so a winter's load does not land on someone
- High-temperature underlayment under the panels
- Matching trim at eaves, rakes, ridges and around chimneys

Things to think about first
Metal costs more than asphalt to install, usually by a wide margin; see the metal roofing cost page for ranges. Some HOAs restrict it, so check your covenants. Hail can leave cosmetic dents in thinner-gauge panels, so ask about panel thickness and finish. A full metal roof is a reroof, so it needs a Pikes Peak Regional Building Department permit, which we pull.
Questions about metal roofing
Will hail dent a metal roof?
Large hail can leave cosmetic dents, especially on thinner panels. It rarely causes leaks. Thicker panels and textured finishes hide dents better.
Is metal louder in a storm?
With solid decking and underlayment beneath it, most people notice little difference from shingles.
Can metal go over my existing shingles?
Sometimes, but we generally recommend a tear-off so the deck can be checked.
